Re: log: connie/atticus
"I'd be outta here if you tried to lecture me." Connie smiled and shook her head. She just needed someone to listen to her after years of always keeping things behind jokes and sleepy shrugs. Atticus didn't bury his personality so far as she could tell, but Connie did sometimes. Spooky things like her always had a weird reflection in the mirror, right? "You don't have to be good at leading people, you just have to be a good person. Or, like, as close to one as you can get." She smiled like a jack-o-lantern dying on a stoop as dawn breaked the day after Halloween.
She tried to imagine what kind of people these guys turned into and made a mental note to at least say hi. "They're all staying with you, aren't they? Here?" To her that was a good sign that destiny had something in store for all of them. Another shake of her head at him, palms up and eyes closed. "I guess the good news is that if trouble shows up, it'll nom me first. You'll be safe in here with cookies and Meat Loaf." She winked, not at all afraid of any kind of monster trying to sink its teeth in her. Science rules, ghostie drools, etc etc.
And, suddenly her mental image of Janus went from old dude with liver spots on his head to someone a little more attractive. Like British, probably? She pulled a face, like she really wasn't looking forward to someone being charming in her direction (that was her job) and made a dismissive motion with her hand. "I'll be as boring as possible. Pretend to sleep when he's around. He'll move right past me."
