Re: log: connie/atticus
"It's like walking into a painting. You have time to see everything. Even something simple like water falling. Magic." She said magic the same way a Disney princess would, without any irony attached. Connie had spent a lot of her life alone or being the only person responsible in her household. Slowing time down, enjoying the warmth of her breath float endlessly in the cold air or bubbles pop on a summer afternoon gave her peace and comfort when no one else could. "I promise. I'll go easy next time. I was showing off so you could see the full extent of my power!" She balled her fists up and posed like a super saiyan about to take it over 9,000.
She smiled and nodded, accepting his attempt to cheer her up. He was the ultimate slacker, of course, so she didn't expect him to be proactive or have any answers. Plus, having someone tell her that they'd be supportive no matter what was a totally new thing to her. She appreciated it. "I don't know. I'll figure it out one day. Or I'll just keep making excuses to avoid it. Either way..." Connie shrugged and that was as far as she wanted to think about it for now.
Connie might have seen something on the stairs, but she made a point to look away. Being a time traveler meant she could feel when the curtain between here and there started to get thin as film. A single ghost was sometimes nothing, but other times it meant there was something wrong, a cut in the picture. An open wound. She didn't want to worry about it right now. She just wanted to look at the ceiling until it went away.
"Did you summon stuff with them?" Connie eventually looked back down at him, her blue eyes spooky again which seemed to be their natural state. "Or were you just worried they'd get in trouble?"
