Re: Text to Call: Holly NW/Noah NW
It would've by now, right? Come out. If it could? [He's going to go on, but the door opens. He doesn't say it's military people, but it's totally military people.] Hey. I'll call you back. [And click.
He isn't thinking that hanging up will panic Noah or anything. He isn't even thinking that Noah will be able to hear whatever is said, right? He's kinda just heart-thump nervous, and that's even with the pain meds kicked in. But maybe it's good? The pain meds? Because he's more chill than he would be otherwise.
The two men are pretty high up in the ranks. He doesn't know them, but they have a lot of metal on their collars. They introduce themselves, but he's forgotten the names within a second or two. They inform him that everyone in the room with the fissure was killed, that they turned on each other for reasons unknown. His suit only relayed information for a few seconds of his interaction with the creature, and they don't know about Noah at all, which is good. Or at least they don't mention him.
They continue on that the project has been deemed too dangerous. He doesn't know they're lying, but they're totally lying. Anyway, they insist they're going to close up the fissure, and they ask for information on how he exited the mirror-world, as they call it. He kinda gives them a general vicinity for the tree, and they say they're going to patch that up as well. He's kinda disbelieving? But mostly he's so fucking relieved. And he's about to ask about time off work, but it turns out he doesn't have to.
One of the men goes to the door and ushers in a woman from military HRC. The woman has paperwork for a 273 honorable discharge: Physical disability with entitlement to receive severance pay. He's kinda dazed, but he signs all the papers (including a pretty stringent NDA), shakes everyone's hand, and then flops back and chills himself out for a few seconds before calling Noah back. Ring.]
