Re: [Daniel & Sparrow: "Tea"]
Daniel smiled slightly in answer to her comment. She seemed to be unable to equate the trait he described to anything or anyone that was not sexually mature, and he didn't think that was coincidental. He didn't want to invalidate that, either, and let the innocent comment stand as it was. Children were nice to be around, and they always looked at him without understanding of what he was or what he could do. He found that refreshing.
Daniel glanced down and his eyes were clear as they searched hers. "I know that," he said, quietly, in answer to the comment about her soul. "I can just... tell. I didn't know what it was at first, but I can tell. Same way I can tell if a person isn't human, or if they're like me. Perhaps it is something in me that notices." He tipped his head. "I knew that your lack of memory could not be natural. It's too complete." He worked his lip under his teeth for a split second, obviously trying to decide how to handle the topic. "I am sorry." Such a thing could not be undone.
"He didn't come for me. He didn't know I was here." He pulled at the curl almost compulsively, eyes wandering as he tried to envision Lin finding this place on a map--with a purple-headed pin, probably. "This place is strange. Like water circling a drain." He let out an explosive breath.
