Re: the thin and red/the actress
Her heart beat faster, but not for the reason she had suspected when she had taken his fingers - cool, maybe too cool - and gone with him. But it wasn't fear either, and it wasn't his gaze upon her that was quieting that fear. The opportunity was not what she had expected, but then, she had wondered at those eyes. And now that gaze was on her again, and it was like a living thing that might penetrate too deeply for breath to be maintained, but she didn't glance away, nor flinch from his touch, nor perhaps surprisingly did she seem overly influenced by it. She was not moving away, no, but her own eyes glittered with an alertness that belied any attempts to reduce her.
She enjoyed her work and was not seeking any sort of other job, not one with charm, or acting skills, and yet she knew, as well as he did that time would take it away from her eventually. She might not wish to be Juliet always, but there were other roles that were more tempting to hold onto forever. There were other ways to accomplish it as well, ones that she understood knowledge of and had used in the past, but this would take it further.
She looked at him with a level gaze. "You're offering eternal youth," she stated evenly. "There will be a catch." There was always a catch.
