Re: The Flibbertigibbet/The Pilot
Carter sat, as suggested, and after a moment's hesitation where she genuinely looked as if she might have sat on something sharp and would take flight from the chair only a beat after having sat there, she seemed to relax, just a bit. And as she did, she leaned against the arm of the chair, legs spreading in a way that was more the pilots that she knew, than bred manners, and for the first time, she smiled, genuinely.
When she did it was a flashy smile that filled up her whole face. And while that face was not conventionally beautiful, it was difficult to deny its attractiveness when she smiled.
"Up in the clouds, yes," delighted, enthusiastic. "It's incredible, and always a little terrifying. When you take off, will you lift, every time, there's a delicious pit in one's stomach, and every time you make it, there's this thrill that's better than anything. And then when you're up there, you can do anything and go anywhere, no one to tell you where you have to be - no roads or tracks to stick to, just you and open sky. It's real freedom. Someday I'm gonna go round the world, or something like. Just to prove to myself I can."
She realized she'd just started in, and she tilted her head. "I think it'd be harder if I weren't in control of the plane. If I had to let someone else do it. Can understand it being more difficult if you were just riding." A beat and she added. "What do you do, Lili?"
