Re: The Jaded/The Disaffected
Nicky wasn't turned on by frustration. Maybe still leaning a little in the direction of the fight part of the fight-or-fuck response but wasn't down for angry sex. Hate-fucking never appealed. Not that he hated Emil but he wasn't going to get down with someone he genuinely disliked. Hadn't been his first impression, and it hadn't changed. Figured the guy cared somewhere deep down about something, maybe several things. Was just used to people who were more expressive. And if you were looking for a hookup, a train trip didn't give you a lot of time to become best buds. Still, he was interested by the silent and sullen. A little impressed, the way Emil had so effectively banished affectation.
"Be clear - I didn't just pay you for anything," Nicky said, first thing. He did not want Emil to have the impression that Nicky had just paid him for sex or companionship or, well, anything. Nicky considered it a kindness. Clarified while still blinking away purple afterimages from his vision. Feeling like he was missing a tiny piece of himself for a moment. That was the price. His human half paid, for a while. "What did you mean? Was I supposed to go in there and steal from the tip jar, or something?" Because he was having trouble reading intentions. As far as creativity, this seemed the better route.
"Mostly, what you see. For the rest, not here," he said. He shouldn't have done as much as he'd done, out in the open. To the point, he shouldn't have done it in front of Emil at all, but most people were pretty skeptical as it was. "I got a cabin, though. Come with me and I'll tell you." Now he was going to lead. Let Emil follow this time. Took off walking. If he didn't follow, he wouldn't find out. Nicky knew curiosity was a powerful motivator for most. Cabin wasn't far. Offered privacy. Powers were blink and miss it. Explanations took longer, took words.
