So it seems this train ride came with a mystery! It was interesting enough to take his mind off of food as well as the risk he was running by being in the fancy dining car. Leo turned back to the count, brows raised in curious arches. “You don’t say?”
Lips pursed in thought for a moment. “Y’know, times when a person vanishes into thin air… They vanished ‘cause they mean to.” People had things in their life they wanted to escape. Many of them turned up at the circus, where every few weeks they pulled up their stakes and moved on. A circus was just the place for someone wanting to run and keep on running. Leo may or may not have been one of those people.
“Why you so sure she’s dead?” The boy asked with a tilt of the head. “Could be she’s run off with a good lookin’, smooth talkin’ feller. Wouldn’t be the first time.” There was no telling what a woman would do. Maybe instead of dead, she’d turn up with a broken heart.
