Re: The Disaffected/The Entertainer
"Not my concern," he clarified. It wasn't. He wasn't Sherlock Holmes, and this wasn't the Orient Express and yes, he was educated enough to know he was mixing his literary references. Seeing as they were only for him, didn't matter much. "Or yours, if you're not inclined. Everyone likes there to be mystery, but it'll probably come to nothing. They'll all be found fucking in the baggage car, or something, somewhere." He wasn't dismissing the point. Not entirely. "We don't know any of the circumstances. Details. So what else to do but let the people do their jobs?" That's what it came down to. He'd probably go, take a look around, though. See what chaos was brewing in the wake of this news. Didn't delight in chaos, but it was more interesting than sitting around doing nothing. It was a long trip, now made longer by this delay. Wasn't opposed to finding the right face to bring back to his cabin, too, if an agreeable opportunity presented itself.
For now, this was the company he had, though. Nicky sat for his impromptu concert and listened with the same polite interest the musician had given his own music. He respected music, musicians, the craft of it. Very little he dismissed as unworthy. People dropped little bits of their souls into their music like salt to finish a dish. You could almost see it, taste it, if you knew what to look for. The musician, objectively, was good, as far as art could, objectively, be anything but art. Pleasing to the ear, even if the ear wasn't listening for Kanye to come out of an old acoustic guitar. Pleasant dissonance. And discord was an aspect, a sister of chaos. He nodded, fractionally, let a little smile tug one corner of his mouth as if to say "you got me." He listened through the second song as well, didn't mind it, due to the aforementioned reasons. And he'd always liked live shows, even though he expected to find this one in a very different venue from where he usually saw concerts. A place that smelled of smoke and beer sweat and boomer desperation rather than weed and Axe. Nicky clapped softly a few times when he finished up, no hint of sarcasm to it. "Nice. Very cool."
