Re: Diego and Alex
Alex didn't go after Mal as instructed. He was busy, playing the game with the girl, talking to her and some other guy who'd shown up, and he didn't want to intrude on that. Even if he gave a little wave, that he was pretty sure Mal didn't see. He found a third drink, instead, but knew he had to go slow with this one, since some things had come out of his mouth when he was talking to Atticus that he hadn't exactly meant to say.
So, he wandered, sipping, looking for something else to play. A lot of newer games really didn't appeal to him, and fortunately there were few of those to be found. That's when he saw the guy playing Joust. He seemed like he was having a good time, and to Alex's eyes, anyway, had really gone all out with the neon thing. But he was playing Joust, by himself. It wasn't exactly a crime, but like.
Normally not, well, aggressive at all, Alex had a couple drinks in him, and a third on the way. So no, he wasn't sloppy, giggly drunk by any means, but he felt a little more friendly, especially after an interesting conversation with Atticus. So he just went up next to the guy and slapped the second player Start button to join in, leaning down to set his drink on the floor. "Dude, can't play Joust alone," he explained, and then added, because he really wasn't the type to barge in on things: "I mean, if ya don't mind?" He didn't do 'huge' smiles, but this one was genuine.
