Re: theater quicklog: Jamie/Ren
Dismissive wasn't like, what Jamie was going for here. Family stuff was an emotional fucking mess rn and sib relationships were fucked and he got that there was like years here, peeling like old wallpaper in the seat in the theater. But it was still fucked that it was like, tortuous or whatever to pry it out of Ren. It wasn't EASY, which was the difference, and Jamie like, didn't even think about what the difference was. "You always feel it was the latter? Legit? They're not dead. You can say that to them." Which was pretty bold, but Jamie didn't pull the punch. It was true. His mom was dead. So dead, there were no questions that could get asked and his dad was kinda like, fragile underneath the stuff that made it look like everything was fine, even with three assumed dead kids.
Ren ate popcorn, and Jamie twitched his knee. And he let the guy meander around getting it. It was shitty. Life was shitty, there was bunches and bunches of stuff that was unfair that you couldn't shift. "So? You have to deal faster than you thought you did. You can't like, wallow in it." Which was probably a little mean. But it was also way true, and Jamie was a tiny bit heartless when it came to stuff like that. "So what are you going to do about it? Take her for fries and a shake and say I was jealous of you and like, why are you here?"
