"There were always so many parties in New York," Del mused. "But I'm in somewhat the same place, no husband, no parents, my younger brother is married and elsewhere and I doubt he'll be up with mom and dad gone. I think it should at least be an excuse for greenery in the house, and eating pie, if nothing else."
She accepted the roll with a thank you, and reached for the fork to take a bite. "And see, this. Getting together with friends is an excuse to eat this," she gave him a quick smile. "I'm also fairly confident that if you're eating with friends metabolism isn't an issue. I read it somewhere on the Internet once, so it must be true."
