Janus stopped letting his head loll around as he took in the library, and looked again at Atticus. He caught the tail end of the young man's head lifting away from the glance down at his hand, and frowned. "I thought you'd prefer getting a break from the island," he said. The demon was used to people deciding they didn't want to pay the agreed price now that they had what they'd wanted, and his expression was weary.
A laugh was a sound, and different vocal chords did it. He did it again. "I don't have religion. I have an existence."
Stories? Janus nodded as he went around a student with headphones and a backpack. "Yeah, they're okay. But I usually do the puzzle instead." Not that he was any good at the puzzle.
