Re: Graveyard Date
Beautiful? “Maybe. When I’m here I dance for myself, any way I want to.” Not like in a club where he was out to impress, or when busking looking for a few quick honest bucks (rare indeed.) Mao moved however the music made him, in whatever way he felt connected most to the faint energies of all the bodies beneath his feet. He could always feel them down there whenever he came here. It was easy to imagine them crawling their way back up to join him. Y’know, just like in Thriller.
“Yeah, I guess so. I’m here a decent amount of the time.” He wasn’t about to give a definitive window of hours he could be found. Mao was opposed to the idea of being found easily, even by Vaughn. But… he did rather like the thought of being needed desperately. It made him all the more smug and smirky.
“Wanna see something cool?” He asked abruptly before taking a sweeping survey of the cemetery, making sure the area they were in was deserted. Mao scooted closer to Vaughn, his voice low and conspiratorial as he took a silver zippo lighter from his pocket. “Check this out…” It flicked open and Mao shaped his hand like a cup beside the flame which seemed to shiver, then double, a second flame jumping to the boy’s hand. There, the flame grew bigger and rounder, hovering above Mao’s palm. The zippo was left on the seat beside him as he then cupped his hand near the ball, where again the flames doubled and jumped so that he now had two little fire balls, one in each hand.
Mao’s grin was big and toothy, and it was impossible to tell if his eyes were only reflecting the glow of the fire or if they were emitting their own light the way they did as a monster. “Cool, huh? It's just like in the book.” ‘The book’ of course was the one Mao had mentioned needing help translating. While Mao couldn’t read the writing, he could at least study the pictures. Maybe it's a Japanese thing, but there seemed to be a disproportionate amount of ghosts and demons who were either surrounded by fire balls, partially burning, or entirely aflame. Perhaps it had to do with Mt. Fuji being a volcano. Japanese monsters were a fiery bunch.
