Theodore gave him kind of an "oh please" sort of look, in the sense that you were either American or you weren't, once you were over there. Everyone knew how to spot the difference and there was really no degree of separation other than that. "Well, perhaps, you won't have to worry too much about standing out, and you'll have a knowledgeable semi-native to guide you in your travels," he smiled. "It seems like we could get along for a few days while I show you some of the sights." And while he meant that in a fully platonic way, it did bring a sort of pang of nostalgia, remembering how he and Jamie had done that same thing as teenagers, expecting also that it was to be completely platonic. But he knew better now what he wanted than he had then.
