Re: Hookerville: Billy/Si
Si hadn't been tall until he had been. He'd been smaller than his sisters through the start of puberty, until, sometime around 14, he'd started growing like a weed, up and up and up, until he was the tallest of the Mayers by a near head. Jamie wasn't small, by the end of it, but it took him a while to catch up, and in all the family photos, Si's the one alone in the back row, trying to spread his arms out over everyone awkwardly. Billy wasn't alone in the cricked neck as he looked upward, but he was smaller than your average guy, even if he was obviously young. Si couldn't tell if the kid and Destiny looked alike. Maybe a little.
He glanced at his bus, then looked toward where Billy gestured, somewhere off toward a crowd of tress. "It's cramped as hell," Si admitted, "but I like it." He wasn't used to having things and it was kind of nice, bumped head or no. Si took another drag on his cigarette as he watched Billy pace. "How're you holding up?" He expected the answer was 'like shit,' but he wanted to broach the topic.
