Re: The Good Diner: Alex, Noah, Holly
Holly rolled his eyes when Noah said that thing about being the geek-brain-type. And, for the record, Holly didn't consider himself especially brainy, right? His grades had been okay, but he wasn't Einstein or anything. But, right, anyway... other Alex's boyfriend, and Holly hoped it gave the guy something positive to think about, right? Like, maybe shit would work out for him here, even if the whole dying thing sounded seriously awful? Okay, look, Holly wasn't a sunshine and rainbows guy. That just wasn't him, but he did think Alex was a good guy, and good guys deserved good things. "Yeah," Holly said of that guy, of that other Alex. "He was a good guy." Holly didn't think the version of him that had lived here was a very good guy, so there was that.
Then Noah was on the clock again, and Holly slid out as he was nudged. He tossed some extra money on the table for a hefty tip, since Janice had been as good as her word, and he shoved his hands in his pockets as Noah reeled him in and kissed his cheek. Because, you know, that was just how Holly did life. Anyway. "No problem. Um.... no military," he reminded Alex in a low whisper, because, yeah, god, they'd fucking love to get their hands on someone like Alex. Who better to shove into that hellgate in the basement? "If you need anything," he went on, back to his normal tone of voice and a nod to Noah about catching a lift home, "you know where we are." And he did smile about the gesturing and the being happy, and it was one of Holly's seldom-used smile. Head duck, kinda sheepish, lots of teeth. "Yeah, thanks. We're going." And he crowded Noah with a shove to his side, hands still in his own pockets, and then going ahead without a look back. Holly wasn't big on goodbyes.
