Lion in Winter is about Henry II, there's a Christmas thing - there was movie with Peter O'Toole and Katherine Hepburn in the 60's. I'm vaguely familiar with the story, it's kinda Shakespearean, and like, royal drama in scope.
The Irish is intriguing to me though - it was a new playwright I've no real familiarity with though, so I want to read it first.
Chekhov is - you know, like, Russian - classic. And depending on the play I went with, it might work, but I think I'd have to consider it more.
