Re: dock: atticus and mal
"Haven't seen the dead pilot and crew. Not sure they can appear like normal ghosts," he explained, as if there was set behavior for normal ghosts. There was, in Atticus' experience. These were different. "Don't know if it's the island that makes them different. Can manipulate things. Regular haunts can't. Poltergeists are generally charging up from someone. Not sure how these haunts manage it." Was honest. Maybe too honest. Had spent his entire life being cautious. Hadn't gotten him anywhere, and there seemed to be little risk associated with more openness now. What was someone going to do? Lock him up? Impossible, so no risk in talking.
"It's easy to get deliveries. Money can get you nearly anything. Ferry to the dock by makeout point. Have deliveries brought there. Simple." Was simple. Wouldn't be the case if he wasn't ridiculously wealthy, but, luckily, was ridiculously wealthy.
Let his thoughts wander to what Mal might've done that was unethical. Too many things to consider. Atticus wasn't the type of man to push. But did consider. Good protagonists were usually tormented in one way or another. Considered Mal as a protagonist. Might work. "Went to the island to hide from reality." Was true. Hadn't been his choice, but it was the reason. "My own version of Call of the Wild or On the Road. Literary protagonists have left society since the advent of literature." Followed this with a quirk of his brow. "Wasn't the right path forward?"
But Shakespeare was giving up its secrets. "Janus. Lives in town. Feel free to hit him up. Tell him I said hello." Nodded toward Shakespeare. "What's inside?"
