Re: [Recovery: Marta & Hannah]
Marta had met a lot of people, and many of them were strange. It didn't change the fact that Hannah had been hurt, and the signs of it showed once she knew to look for them. Whether Hannah's family had noticed or not, Marta saw, and she didn't want that for Hannah.
The bright smile helped to ease some of Marta's worries though. Because she didn't think that Hannah would be able to smile so brightly and lie about her situation at the same time. It made her think that maybe the situation was in the past. She could still feel her worry seeping in around the edges though, concern that Hannah still bore wounds and scars from whatever had happened to her.
Hugging was unexpected, especially when it came so suddenly. It seemed worlds away from fingers over hand or even a careful second of touch to a cheek. It was warmth and enveloping, and even though Hannah's arms were slim and bare, there was some strength in them. And strength meant safety. So while Hannah may have meant it to be quick and impulsive, once Marta registered the action, she brought her own arms up and clung tightly for a moment. Likely a bit too tightly, and accompanied by a shuddery breath, but at least she was able to let go when Hannah sat back. She averted her eyes for the first few seconds, embarrassed by her reaction to something so simple.
She was still looking away when she felt the weight on her knee, and looked back quickly to see the camera there. She stared at it for only a second before looking up at Hannah, who was busy smiling and giving instructions about the camera. Hannah's camera, that she was offering to lend to Marta, who'd never had a camera other than the one that came on her phone. She reached out to steady it, afraid of it tumbling to the floor and breaking, but then she stared at Hannah again. The offer was even more unexpected than the hug had been. Still giving up on typing for the moment (she hated the hassle of it, really), she lifted the camera in one hand and used the other to point at it and then to Hannah. The camera was hers, not Marta's.
