Re: [Recovery: Marta & Hannah]
It was a concept that Marta was still trying to learn and accept: that just disappearing wasn't necessarily the best choice. Even with people telling her that, and showing her how much it could hurt, she still had too many days where she thought that everyone could be so much better without her around. It was yet another thing on the list of things she was trying to make better. She and her doctor had a long way to go to get through that list.
Of course there were reasons that Hannah hadn't left. If ever asked, Marta would tell her so, with conviction. There were always reasons. And she'd even seen the results of girls that tried to leave - it wasn't always good for them. Men could be dangerous whether you were "with them" or not. And it took her a second of watching Hannah as she thought and spoke, before Marta realized that there were maybe other reasons that Hannah had jumped to the thought of hurting. And it made something inside of her (something that was usually so quiet as to nearly not exist) suddenly and intensely angry. She reached out again, easier this time, and touched the back of Hannah's wrist, and then, gently, her cheek. Fleeting touches, so carefully there and gone again. Her eyes were soft and her smile a tiny curve and she nodded so slightly.
One nod, and then another. And to try to lighten the mood at least a little,
