Re: [Recovery: Marta & Hannah]
Hannah had, for one tiny moment, thought not talking to Mars or Jamie or Si was better. Mars had asked her to go get her own life, and she'd agreed, and she'd meant it when she agreed. But one conversation with Si had turned that all around, and she was trying really hard to help now, to not leave him alone with Mars and Jamie, and she thought she was doing pretty good. He'd made her understand that disappearing was actually pretty selfish, and that making them experience loss again wasn't very nice, and so she'd backpedaled, and it felt like the right thing.
As for bad relationships, she knew. She knew, and to this day she couldn't tell why she hadn't just left. She had a thousand words for why, but none of them really explained it, and she knew she was bringing her own experience into this conversation. She realized it more and more with the seconds that spanned between herself and Marta. "Oh. I'm really, really glad," she said, her response when Marta said Seven was grumpy and not abusive, and she hoped with all her everything that Marta's words were true.
"Okay," she said when Marta agreed to message Si if something happened, but then she remembered that maybe Marta wouldn't feel okay contacting someone she'd been intimate with, and she understood that too, so she added: "Or my brother-in-law, okay? His name is David Park, and he's really nice, and he really likes helping people who need help." Which was true, even if it didn't explain everything about David, not by a long-shot. "My ex-brother-in-law," she added, because Marta seemed like the type of girl who wouldn't want to bother someone she perceived as being taken or spoken for.
