Re: [Recovery: Marta & Hannah]
Marta knew what it was like to want good things for people. She just tended to get confused that "good things" meant removing the bad things - removing herself from their lives. It was something she needed to get past, but that thought still tended to linger in her mind. Removing herself and removing her stress and problems and damage.
She knew, too, what it was like to see people in a bad relationship. She'd seen some of the girls, way back when she was stripping for cash - so many of them had abusive boyfriends, coming into work with bruises or swollen wrists from being grabbed or shoved. She'd seen them go back time and again because they had nowhere else to go. And maybe, to Hannah, that was what this looked like - Marta going back to Seven for help. But it wasn't. It was hard to reach out, not usually the one to make that move, but Marta did - reached out to touch Hannah's arm, fingers to elbow. She rested them there for a moment, half to make sure she had Hannah's attention, and half to reassure her. Once she did, she typed as quickly as she could:
cranky like grumpy. not like hurting.
And somehow it didn't surprise her that sweet Hannah would have a brother that would step up to help. Even so far as helping women that so many others thought "deserved it", when something bad happened to them. It took her a second, but she slowly nodded.
seven wouldn't. but i'll remember if something else happens.
