Re: Outside the Homestead: Patrick G/Newt P
"Quite," was Newt's dry, deliberately academic response, given without any of the feigned seriousness making it into his soft smile. He shook his head again, reminded, as he always was, of Patrick's youth. Newt'd never found himself particularly concerned Patrick might leave and not come back. There was much that never occurred to him, really, and countless things, of course, that did, that never once crossed Patrick's mind. But, he understood the fear. He would've become anxious about it himself, he was certain, and, if nothing else, he was pleased Patrick brought it up, so he, Newt, might assuage the man's fears. With words, among other things. "You are," murmured Newt, once more in agreement, as he traced Patrick's jaw, then lip.
He'd glanced up, amber gaze a baubled flit, just before Patrick rewarded him with another kiss, and that smile appeared, just briefly, before Patrick's mouth covered his. Thin, freckled fingers had made their way to long, blond hair, threatening to inch upward, to trace along the sharp edges of ears—itching to do as much, but Newt behaved himself as, yes, the topic turned to Adrian. It was best to get it out of the way, wasn't it? Then, they could turn to other things in the sallow gold of sunset.—Newt was tucked close to the man now, settling more loosely against him, now that there was no snogging being done, and he breathed in Patrick's scent. His forehead and fringe tickled alongside Patrick's neck as he laid his head upon broad shoulder.
Newt listened, hearing Patrick's voice from above, as well as as a deep resonance vibrating against and beneath him. When Patrick reached for him, to lift his, Newt's chin, Newt was, of course, pliable, peering at the younger man through the gauze of lashes, his gaze holding. "It's all right." Newt'd been upset in the moment, but, whatever he'd felt'd been minimized by Patrick's reappearance. After a searching look into eyes a pristine blue, Newt was utterly earnest as he said: "I'm very glad you're here."
