"I think I will need to make a trip there someday. I do like the coast, but I've seen very little of the Pacific. I've been up and down the Atlantic coast - on both sides. It seems...wilder, somehow. Older." They had their own energy - places like Cape Cod or Aberystwyth. To him, the Pacific coast felt like it would be warmer and more gentle. Perhaps a better place to relax. "Really, I'd like to see more of the whole Pacific Northwest." For all the places he'd been, that was one he'd only visited once.
Theodore nodded at that as he finished his own coffee and set the empty mug down. It wasn't good to throw yourself fully into your work. He might have done that, when he started writing his first book, but that was a coping mechanism. Grief management. Strangely, he'd found the second one a lot more difficult to write.
"Ah, there seems to be quite the eclectic group here around town, though. Part of the reason I'm even here is that a friend of mine - Delyth - grew up here and told me about the town and the lake, and how close it was to the Capital. And I met her at a party in New York. So, I think...perhaps, there's a degree of fitting in, around here, that...well, requires not fitting in? I know I'm rather out of place, in a town like this," he chuckled. "Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to much of the experience of real life here around Repose, just yet. I've had to spend a lot of time in the Capital for work. Soon, though, I'm sure."
