"Good, I feel very confident about my coffee preparation and always far less about my ability to pass a British standard of tea," Hugh quipped, lightly as he moved around to the other side of the counter, pulling out the coffee he'd ground earlier in the day to measure it, and to begin the water heating. The placement of the counter meant that it was possible for him to work on the coffee while still talking to Theodore in the living room, which despite the size of the place, was another thing Hugh liked about it. It wasn't as cozy as he might have picked himself, but it was perfect for entertaining - should he ever get in a place to really do that. Someday, maybe, that'd be a more regular occurrence.
"I apologize if I'm giving her unrealistic expectations," Hugh laughed. "She's always welcome to come over and make use of it," he offered. "Especially during the day when I'm at rehearsals, there's really no reason why someone shouldn't get use out of it." A beat. "Not, mind you that I haven't spent a pretty number of evenings curled up on the four-hundredth and sixteenth viewing of Dirty Dancing since I moved in. Prior to my remodeling it, it was yet another bedroom if you can believe it, as if I need half as many as this house has."
He paused, checked the water which was close, but not there yet, and turned back. "She seems like a really good kid," he complimented. Hugh had been a little nervous, having not really interacted with teenagers outside of theatre for a while, but she'd been easy to talk to, and he'd relaxed pretty quickly as he'd realized that. "I can see it'll be quieter when she goes back to school."
