Re: [Diner: Aleksi, Hannah, Si]
Hannah dipped fingers and bacon and cut corners of pancake, and she tucked the food between her lips without spilling syrup or making a mess. For all that it wasn't very polite, she was neat about it and she leaned against Si's side easily and comfortably as Si talked to Rabbit, as Rabbit answered back. And she noticed how Rabbit smiled when she mentioned Dietre, and she liked the way just thinking about the boy made him warm and happy. It was good, she thought, especially having been in his head and seeing what he longed for at the end of that broken forest.
"We grew up somewhere not like this at all. We were all over when we were little, because our parents liked to fix up houses and sell them, and then we settled in Florida. It's sticky and warm and always smells like salt there," she said, voice a little wistful, a little sad, and Repose wasn't like Florida. It was maybe more like the place with the big, big house of her dream-nightmare, and she dragged a finger through the pooled syrup on the plate. "The last big house we lived in was the one from the dream, the one I was coming from," she explained, and then she glanced over at Si. Si, who was much, much more private than she was, and she didn't want to say too, too much.
"Rabbit's dream had a lot of books, and it had a really nice house at the end, one that looked warm and safe," she explained, thinking that said a lot about the man across the table from them.
