[Diner: Aleksi, Hannah, Si]
Hannah was sitting close to the window, feet on the booth seat she was sitting on, kneecaps against the table edge, and she smiled and smiled as Rabbit came into her peripheral vision. She watched as he slid onto the bench across from her, back to the wall, and she felt good about having selected that particular booth for them. "Rabbit," she said warmly, and she reached across the table and squeezed his fingers if he allowed it. She smelled of lavender and vanilla, a hint of the day's work still on her skin beneath the soap she used.
She sat back, knees still against the table edge, and she cupped the coffee mug in her hands. The stoneware was warm beneath her palms and fingertips, and she turned and turned it on the table. "You haven't met Si, but he's my twin brother, and he lived in the house I was running from in our dream, so maybe you kind of know him by extension," she said, and it was probably obvious on her open-book features that she hoped they would like each other.
And she didn't really care what Rabbit was wearing, and she knew he didn't care what she was wearing, and that was nice, too. After a long, long day of work, it was nice to just have someone look at her and have those things not matter, and it had been a long, long day. The days were hot, hot, and men liked to pay a little and come in from the heat for a long time. "I have advice to ask, too, but I'll wait until Si gets here to ask you both, and I'll wait until we have pancakes, too. But you can order anything, not just pancakes, and it's on me." She didn't think Rabbit worked, and she knew where most of Si's money went.
