Re: At the end of the street under the lights; Hugh M./cobbled
Hugh hadn't ever gone without food unless it had been completely his choice, looking at quickly losing weight for a role or before a dance show, and so the urchin was absolutely correct about that, and about the fact that he had a pocket watch, although he didn't have it on tonight. And right now his attention had been pulled from the dance floor and the immediate thought of whether or not he should try to find a partner.
There almost felt like there was something about tonight, about the party, but he couldn't put his finger on what, and it was Repose, so probably there was something and it would become apparent eventually.
"I've been dancing almost before I could walk," he gave a short chuckle. "But that was a different type of dancing than that you do with a partner." He met the urchin's gaze for an instant: what made the right partner "Someone who knows he steps," he considered. "Or someone who is willing to learn them," for an instant his gaze shifted into the distance as if he was remembering something, and he was. A birthday once, and a realisation, and a right partner, one he hadn't managed to hold onto. This year his birthday had come and gone with nothing like that. He pulled his gaze back. "Someone who is curious, and willing to invest in the process of dancing."
That felt like a decent enough summary. "And sometimes it's just someone you'll have fun with, I suppose."
