Oh, hey, Alex's Heartstrings, have some poor, starving children. Because if anything was certain to tug on those, it was exactly that thing. "That's really good of you," he said with a wan sort of smile. He wanted to say just bring them all to me and I'll take care of them, something like that, but he was barely taking care of himself, for the most part. "If you need any help," he found himself saying, anyway, "just lemme know." But kids that young, working? Paper routes were like a suburbia thing, though, right?
"I believe you," he responded to those dreams. No, not dream, but certainty. He believed this guy, that he would do what he set out to. "An' I think you'll do just fine." Then quite belatedly: "'m Alex, by the way," he said, holding out a hand. "Thanks again for the smoke."
