Re: On a Fire Escape; Alex W/extra extra
"Gets pretty tight for some of us sometimes," he nodded. Not usually for him, cause he almost always had a little tucked away - something about that promising himself he'd get to Santa Fe someday, but it never felt like enough and it still went fast, and some of that being tucked away had been tucked because of nights he'd gone hungry. And he still knew that others did all the time. "I try to make sure the youngest boys ain't going hungry though. Help them figure out how to make their routes work for them and stuff."
He took a drag on the cigarette, and figured he was getting close to the end of it. "I've ridden'em some here," he pointed out. "But yeah, they are. I think I do alright though for never havin' no one to teach me, y'know? I'll figure out the ranch thing when I get there. Which I'm going to, someday." A final drag, and he dropped the rest of it, crushing it out, and then turning back to his companion. "I'll have my own horse someday too." The idea of it, the way to be able to travel not just on foot, but go places... it sounded amazing to him.
