Re: On the sidewalk, looking up
Our hero stayed cool on his climb up the fire escape. He stopped a few times to casually inspect the distance below him, and he smiled a winning smile to some cute birds on the way up. This was nothing, man, not to this guy. This guy was used to racing at Thunder Road, and this climb wasn't a thing compared to that. He was cool as a cucumber as he swung up onto the roof. It was a shame no one he knew was around to see his moves, but he tugged his leather collar up regardless. He pulled a comb from his pocket- black, of course, the comb- and he dragged it through hair that had barely moved during the climb. Curl tugged down into place, comb pocketed, and he had arrived.
A glance toward the makeshift stage told him people were talking. Acting? Acting. Getting with an actress might be cool, but he was not about theater. No matter, because he was available to help the right person with their lines, ya know what I mean? Wink. He chomped on the gum that was caught between his molars, the strawberry flavoring faded to nearly nothing. Not bragging, but he needed to keep his breath fresh, dig?
Look, the guy on the edge of the roof wasn't someone he could help with their lines, but the buttoned up guy was gulping over there and looking seriously not cool. Our hero in black was feeling helpful- let's not read into it. He was also feeling like talking. An exchange of words would be cool, and he dug hanging with friends, ya know? It wasn't all about bagging the girl. He cleared his throat, and he strutted over to where the scared dude was. Once there, he crouched. Crouching was cool. Snap went his fingers, elbow on one knee, and he glanced from the dude to the ground. "It ain't so high," he said, and then he clapped a hand on the white shirt that stuck to the guy's shoulder in guy solidarity. "You got up here, man, and you can get down if you are so inclined. But there is a plethora of chicks up here." Plethora, pronounced plith-OR-UH. Plethora, he'd decided, was a cool word. He motioned back with the hand that had just been clapping the guy on the shoulder. "Do not give up so quickly, man. This is an oasis in this neon desert."
