Re: [The Lake: Atticus & Cass]
Would understand her feelings about not wanting to go back. Didn't want to go back to the island at times. Didn't want to go back to the shore at times. Wasn't sure what type of day today was. Hadn't figured that out yet. Was out here with his thoughts, as if he could figure something out on a boat. Knew he couldn't. Wasn't as easy as that.
"Always depends. That's how life is. Everything always depends," he said of thieves and their motivations. Was maybe talking about girls who wanted to steal days, too. Depended. Was always a reason why. Just because someone didn't understand another person's reason didn't mean that there wasn't one. Understanding was hard. Didn't come easy. Knew that. Understood that.
Rowed. Was quiet for a few seconds. Rowed some more. The sun was getting hotter, higher, lightening the lake to a lighter hue. His haunts were on the shore. Waiting. Didn't come to the island. Was interesting that they didn't come to the island. "My house is on the island. Own it. The island. The house. Is a preserve, otherwise. Birds. Local creatures. That kind of thing. House is over there, on the corner." Pointed toward it, but was too close to shore now to see the old house on the island's farmost side.
Smiled. "Not a bad thing to be un-quiet. Don't seem shallow, though. Not so far. Live in town?"
