Re: Holly's place: Holly/ Noah
Holly didn't ask why Noah had met Ren at his mom's, but Noah answered the non-existent question anyway. He'd thought he sort of had? But, he tried to clarify again. "We met at the trailer park, because it's closer to the Facility, without, like, being at the Facility. I kind of hoped we wouldn't have to get all the way there for his mojo or whatever to work. So, I parked at my mom's." Noah wasn't stupid, man. Let's say he wasn't crawling around in Holly's brain/nervous system/etc., he still felt the dude stiffen. Physically, like, lock up. And he knew what it meant. Noah felt like he needed to defuse the worry/anger/potential whatever that was building up with the expectation that came with the mention of his, Noah's, mom.
It made it a little difficult to keep talking about the yeeting and all of that, because, instead of focusing on how that all went or how it felt, Noah was just focused on making it not seem so bad. With his mom. He kept himself folded close to Holly and he squinched his eyes shut as he pressed his forehead to to the back of Holly's head. "I don't really know what happened between when I, like, found you at the Facility—when I was... there with you?—and then, when I woke up at my mom's. I don't know. She was asleep. It was morning. I kind of just panicked, because I was in the bed and I was kindofnakedorwhatever, so I just left. I'm guessing Ren knew my Jeep and just dropped me off there." Had Noah used the tried-and-true method of every kid ever to avoid something they didn't want to talk about by saying it very, very fast? Yeah. "Anyway, that was just I guess what was happening with my physical body, because I wasn't in it. I was with you? That's what I mean by yeeting."
