Re: Facility: newt and adrian
It didn't really matter to Sue if the machine worked or didn't work - it mattered that it was a looming threat, a constant reminder, a promise. He liked the idea of having one under his skin even less, and he didn't think it would work any better. How would they even know to trigger it? When his heartbeat went up too much? When he got a flush of adrenaline? The Obscurus had no physical markers - it simply was, and the serum that Adrian had developed was hardly a magic cure-all. It had been developed by the Obscurial himself, so he might have infused it with his own magic without even being aware of it. It would explain why it had been so effective at knocking Adrian out, when he had still been unable to find any useful biometric markers of magic in his body, hard as he tried. Or maybe it was what it appeared to be on paper - a very, very powerful sedative, carefully developed. It didn't matter. Newt was right - once the Obscurus showed up, no one was going to stop it with a needle.
Whatever it did, however it worked, whether it worked in the long run or not, Sue felt better as soon as it was out of his line of sight. "You let me misunderstand you and did me a favor. I think you've done enough for today." He smirked a little, edging back toward his usual self. "When I'm out of here, we should have that talk. Don't think I'll forget."
