Re: Billy/Tandy: the neighborhood
Tandy swallowed the tangle of cheese, meat and tomato that stuck to the roof of his mouth in a combination of carbs and fat and protein that was light on actual nutritional value and smiled at his new roommate. "The place is neat." And by neat, Tandy didn't mean super tidy, although it had that just-moved-in self-consciousness that reminded Tandy of magazine shoots, when people living there didn't get in the way.
He didn't know he was the current cause of confusion, a little uncertainty, because mixed emotions was not the state Tandy wanted to cause unduly. And Noah, and pizza delivery and Tandy logged that info away as a reminder without interrupting the flow of his new situation. "I like it." This was probably the place, it could also encompass the pizza.
Tandy ate the pizza slice in three quick bites and chewed quickly as he dug in his back pocket for a wallet that was more creased leather than actual substantive cash and carefully picked out a ten and a fifteen, holding them out in fingers less greasy than the rest of them. "Have you converted yet to the magic of vinyl?" Amused. Tandy's face held onto the note of it, and he picked up another slice of pizza, untroubled now he'd kicked in for the cost.
"I haven't purchased you a gift, I figured you'd have stuff and I could learn what fitted in." And also, comb thrift stores obsessively to find the right thing, but details.
