Hugh's laugh was a short huff of air, and he raised his glass with a bit of a smirk. "I'll drink to that cliche."
The question Hugh was still trying to settle was what happened after you learned better. Trying to do the same thing when it seemed to give you the same results more or less felt like a special sort of stupidity, which is why he could glance around the room and objectively note the men he'd have gone to talk up before, without any real urge to get out of his seat and do it. He didn't suspect there would be much difference in a not-gay club or bar either. Same general reaction - he could tell you pretty easily who he was attracted to by look, what looked potentially interesting about them, but the chances of it being something that wasn't what he wanted were so high.
"How did you end up in Repose?" He asked instead of trying to dig into some deep philosophical question.
