Re: Comic Book Heroes: Alex/Holly/Billy
He shook his head, like this was the greatest disappoint of his life up to this point. “But we both need to work on not being, like, total hermits. So I think it’ll be good.” He thought about the idea of a party and knew that was not something Tandy would ever plan for himself, which was probably a good indicator that Billy shouldn’t make that decision without asking and also that he was definitely going to do it anyway.
"Oh, excellent idea. I’ll tell Noah when I figure out when it’s going to be, so you guys can come?” It was half rhetorical question and half olive branch, like, ‘I acknowledge your relationship and also that we are not technically friends (yet) and I am just trying not to step on any toes here’. Which, for the record, was a lot of subtext to fit into a single sentence aimed at somebody who wasn’t even looking in your direction. He turned back to Alex at the register and picked up his wallet again, pulling out some twenties and counting them quickly after wetting the edge of his thumb against his tongue to separate the bills with ease.
“And you’re invited too, of course,” he added, glancing up at Alex again when he handed over $220 even and deftly managing not to make the invitation sound like an afterthought. “I'm not like, the world's most amazing hostess but I am great at facilitating people getting fucked up and having fun. And I guess I’m warming the house for both of us, since it’s new to me too.”
