Re: FT: Atticus M/Steve M
[Didn't feel talked to. Atticus spent most of his time in academic circles, and he knew what strong opinions sounded like. Fervor wasn't the same as condescension, though he knew plenty of people who conflated the two. This wasn't one of those situations.] Not knocking modern conveniences. Just find myself appreciating traditional, old-fashioned things these days. Always considered myself a modernist, but guess that changes when modernity becomes the past. Still mired in it, but not in a bad way. Memories. Don't mind those.
[Chuckled.] Weren't dying to up and sit in a bar and listen to the fishermen complain about how they can't sell stripers anymore? [Watched the scenery go by for a few seconds. Was silent.] Does feel a little like a movie. Was born in the city. Went back to it after school. Never considered staying in a fishing village all my life. Not enough people to talk with about the critical interpretation of fish in As I Lay Dying. [Was an example offered honestly.] But liked it there. [Pause.] What movie did we go see? Anything I'd know? [Another chuckle.] Know I'm going to ask you what's different about you. Also would like to see your favorite place in town, if there is one.
