Re: On the shore: Marta / Ronan
With her eyes closed, the sounds of everything seemed that much closer. Marta leaned into her thighs, hugging her legs even tighter, and breathed with the rhythm of the lapping of the water. People laughed and the beat of music wormed its way through everything else. But then, cutting through the other sounds, was a jingle and footsteps that were quick. A snuffling that combined with the other sounds into familiarity that made her open her eyes, a name on her tongue that she'd bestowed years ago on a tiny runt of a puppy.
It wasn't Devi running along the shore though. It was a pair of dogs, unfamiliar to her, and a young man she assumed to be their owner. She had just enough time to take that all in (her mind not quite as sharp as it sometimes was) before one of the dogs was trotting nearer, tail wagging and a look that couldn't be anything but friendly. She was still wary of most dogs, especially ones she'd never met before, but it was hard to be too afraid when this one had its ass in the air like that. She was chuckling before she even realized it, smiling and eyes warm even though her stomach gave a painful little lurch at the memory of Devi - and Seven's other dogs. "Hey, you," she managed to murmur, changing position only enough to reach one hand down and lay it flat on the blanket next to herself.
She'd almost forgotten about the owner for a moment, but then the man was there with fingers hooking into the dog's collar. She blinked and looked up at him (and up and up - he'd be taller than her even if she was standing) and after a second she gave a little shake of her head. "It's okay." Her attention shifted back down and she smiled again at the dog. "He's saying hi."
