Re: Log: Jeremiah M+Hannah S+Jamie M+Si M
Jeremiah shook his head at Jamie's statement. Yes, alright, it had ruined the dinner, but he wasn't convinced it hadn't been turned at least a little upside down before this, and it wasn't the most important piece of the evening. As shallow as he could be, and as much as there was a little bit of disappointment swallowed at not being able to properly entertain, it wasn't why he'd asked anyone over here. He'd asked them because they were Hannah's family, and because she'd asked, and because he'd wanted to get to know them, and this was all of those things - whether or not he got to serve wine in fancy stemware didn't matter.
"I'll bring plates for both of you," he agreed easily, with even a smile. "You don't need to apologize. Sometimes things don't work entirely as planned."
Hannah didn't have to come, but he selfishly didn't think he would tell her not to. They could get the pasta, some of the bread with just herbed butter, and possibly skip the wine altogether for just cool water. They could eat with Si, he didn't mind, and he wasn't certain really if he should join them, or let them do their own family watch. That was the most awkward part of this - was feeling a bit like an intruder where he wasn't supposed to be involved, but he let Hannah exit in front of him, and then he followed her towards the kitchen, automatically moving for paper plates rather than the ones on the table.
"Will he be alright?" He asked her quietly, hoping that she understood he wasn't upset - not really.
