Re: Log: Jeremiah M+Hannah S+Jamie M+Si M
He shifted his weight on one leg and looked down at the glass in his hand before looking over at Hannah. This didn't feel like it was going very well, and he wasn't certain how to fix it but wishing it hadn't been brought up would do nothing. He didn't typically mind Hannah's questions, but at the moment he kind of did. He bit down on his lip and then set the glass down, mostly empty. He couldn't, or really shouldn't, drink another one.
"My name is Jeremiah Hugh Christian-Blumenkrantz," he answered Jamie's question. "And no, the actor didn't know although I thought he did. He was a method actor, and I was told he wanted to attend the party in question as the character he was playing in the film. It wasn't the strangest thing I'd ever heard of a person doing for a role, and I, stupidly, did not ask him about it. I was inexperienced and naive, and the director had the ability to make or break my chances further-" he shook his head. Other people had paid for his ambition and his foolishness. Perhaps being questioned by the brothers of a woman he'd grown to love was just well-deserved.
Instead of pouring another drink he stepped over to take Hannah's hand. He wasn't certain there was any salvaging this at this point, and his reputation was pretty much gone and he could only imagine what Si and Jamie probably thought of him. But if they disliked him, well, they disliked him. He tilted his head towards Si, explanations might make things worse, but: "I met Pippin at the masquerade, before Hannah and I spoke about a relationship," he shrugged lightly. "I used to be extremely casual, and I thought I'd try that here. When we spoke in person I got the impression she didn't want casual. Maybe I miscalculated that, but it seemed like a dick move to seduce her, and then tell her I wasn't interested in serious. And," he glanced over at Hannah, and his cheeks felt hot. "I think Hannah and I are still figuring out exactly how our relationship works, but I don't have any particular interest in having sex with other people right now."
He released a tight breath and gestured. "I don't mind if you smoke in here," Jeremiah confirmed what Hannah had said, and reached into the pocket on his vest and held out a lighter to Si. "But, if you want air, the patio has a nice view of the lake. I'm going to go pull the baguettes out of the oven though, and I'll have food ready in about five minutes here, if you'll all excuse me for just a moment." He offered a smile that didn't entirely reach his eyes, as he dropped Hannah's hand and headed for the kitchen to try to regain his balance.
