Re: Log: Jeremiah M+Hannah S+Jamie M+Si M
It wasn't exactly that Jeremiah had any difficulty with Hannah's forthrightness, but he also wasn't used to it, and he tended, perhaps not for the best, to run nearly the opposite. Talking about things was hard, and nearly always felt like he was walking into the middle of a room with a hundred swords pointed at him, and he shifted somewhat uncomfortably as Hannah explained. He reached into his vest pockets for cigarettes, and then halfway there stopped and didn't pull them out. "I see," he said instead, and reached for a drink of his own. "I guess I upset her more than I realized then," he offered, mostly to Hannah, and not particularly certain if he needed to explain further or not. Probably not with Jamie and Si standing there, and while he had perhaps flirted more than he should have, he felt as if he'd tried to be up front with her before things turned very serious. At the time he hadn't been emotionally available for a relationship, because you really couldn't be if you were in love with someone else.
He took a sip, and glanced towards Jamie and Si. He didn't really want to talk about it, and would have been perfectly happy to not talk about it, but with it brought up it was probably better to simply explain it. If they had seen it, then his explanation wouldn't hurt, and if they hadn't, then they'd hear his side first, and either way: He lifted his head and tried not to worry about what either of them would think of him after.
"I was an actor before I came here. The film I was in was finally released this weekend after production delays because the lead actor murdered the lead actress." He pulled in a breath. "What Hannah's referring to is the fact that now that the film is coming out the tabloids and the entertainment press has been covering the events all over again, including the fact that the director accused me of having drugged the actor, without mentioning the fact that I did so at her request. I moved here to get away from most of it - it's been a mess." He tilted up the liquor and took another sip, before putting it down on the table. "It was a mess of my own making, but the press has not overly concerned themselves with accuracy always." A beat. "I went by Hugh Christian before."
