Re: log: Dietre & Liam
“Liam, please…” Dietre’s distress grew at the dead man’s assertion that he did not belong in heaven. That couldn’t be true. For all of his mistakes and vices, Dietre knew that Liam had a good heart, wasn’t that enough? Yet… here he was, trapped on earth. If heaven wanted him, shouldn’t there have been a light to guide him there? Something…? Anything??
They had been able to hold hands just a moment ago, so when Liam stepped forward, Dietre instinctively expected a collision. Instead, he was bathed in coldness that took his breath away. He gasped, startled, feeling as though there were tiny ice crystals forming in his veins. It took a moment to recover, long enough so that by the time he turned around to face the direction Liam had gone, there was no trace left of the ghost.
“...Liam?” Dietre whispered the name despite knowing there would be no answer. He was left alone with only his cold tears for company. Liam was more than gone, he was further and beyond what any eyes could see, even his. And it would be this way forever. His heart broke all over again. Death was the ultimate divide.
