Re: Down: Lucifer / Misha
"Why does it have to be a competition?" There were plenty of people with pure talent that could learn steps and catch on. There were people who also tried to bargain for that sort of talent, and Misha could likely step outside of their (mostly) peaceful grove and find at least a few. Bargaining for it seemed to fall into what Misha might consider "unfair", but the boy was born with his talent, just like any other. "Why can't it be multiple people giving the world something good?" Lucifer wasn't much for social media, but he would definitely agree with the "two cakes" comic if presented with it. And however Misha was looking at him, Lucifer knew that he didn't have all the answers. What he did have was time to observe so many of the little things that happened to people, and the way choices could guide a life's course.
That thing that Misha had been saying? Lucifer felt much the same. There were those Below that were there only due to some arbitrary rule of his Father's, and there were souls Above that Lucifer wouldn't want to touch with the universe's longest stick. Maybe Above was awfully light and Below was awfully dark, but it was grey no matter where you stood - nothing truly black or white. And perhaps the acceptance of that by the boy in front of him helped heal a little of what had sent him, Lucifer, into hiding for those long weeks. Weeks for those on earth, at least.
He listened to the description of this David, and didn't especially like hearing that someone like this was involved with not one, but two of his people. With someone so (as Misha said) broke, it was always hard to get them to see things in a different light. But he was hard-pressed to refuse this boy at the moment. There was a trade that needed to be made, though. "If I speak with him, will you promise me to leave the dead dead?"
