Re: Down: Lucifer / Misha
Lucifer knew of the Quiet Home. He knew of those that worked within its walls. And he knew that there was more than one door Below that mirrored the place on Earth near-perfectly, each with its own horrorshow within for those that had acted out terrors on the residents and patients. He didn't say as much, didn't give any details, but he did nod, just a bit, to acknowledge that he knew. With Misha's admission, Lucifer could read some of the pain etched in the lines of the boy's face (and down deeper than that). And more souls were added to a mental tally he was barely even aware of starting.
He wasn't blind to ways that the two boys could likely be good for each other. But he also didn't want them to be so wrapped up in each other to the exclusion of anyone and anything else. It would be a good way for things to go very badly, very quickly. But the little bits of helping... those could be placed into a column of positives. "You both have the opportunity to learn about yourselves. Your Damian is more than his family and training, and you are more than... a great many things you've been told. You can both start by thinking of the things that spark something inside of you. What makes you light up?" Light - because while people always considered his name to be synonymous with the sun cresting over the horizon, light came in many forms.
"For some, yes. It's more a... an accounting of those choices you're going to make." It was a big sort of concept, and one that didn't entirely jigsaw together with free will from certain points of view. And then a question he wasn't expecting, that earned another laugh. This one much less amused than his previous. "And go where? I spend my time away when I can." He took another drink of his tea, eyes angled down into the curve of his cup's bowl. He blew across the liquid with a resurgence of steam. "But there needs to be a keeper of the keys."
It was a confession that was unexpected, but Lucifer didn't say anything. He simply kept his eyes on Misha and waited for him to go on.
