Re: Down: Lucifer / Misha
The reaction that the hot chocolate received made something vile and rageful begin to climb up the back of Lucifer's throat. Simple acts didn't earn such intense reactions unless something had gone very off-course at some point. Every time he spoke with Misha, there were more and more hints of how things had veered from a track that would be considered normal or anywhere near acceptable. Hot chocolate (even a mug that stayed the right temperature for drinking and for warming hands) was something simple enough to give, and even for someone with a sweet tooth shouldn't be a tear-pricking offering. He needed a moment to push back the darker, destructive wave that wanted him to hunt down those guilty for the treatment of his son, and hold them accountable for it. It was not the time - though it would likely come someday.
"Intention still carries weight. As does the situation. The things that have gone wrong weren't done out of malice. There still may be consequences, but it's a different accounting." At least Below, which was what Lucifer could speak to. "Can you step back enough to look at what happened, and find the moment that could've ended things differently? Can you learn from it and not simply say 'this means I should never do anything ever again'?" It was a legitimate question - being able to learn from a misstep wasn't easy. But the talk of antithesis made him shake his head and want to roll his eyes. "Then they're all idiots who have forgotten where I came from and who created me. And if they have some big issue with you, they should talk to your Grandfather, because no matter what the stories say, I was never one that was meant to create life." The statement echoed thoughts he'd had since learning about Misha, this time stated outloud with a clipped tone to the words. He didn't comment on sides though, or attempting to assign Misha to one.
