Re: [Carnival - Adult]
She asked him what was happening, and he didn't even know where to begin or end, he had no idea what was happening aside from the horrible, eclipsing knowledge that somehow, he was dying. Again. He'd actually been under the impression that that wasn't possible, so he left as lost about the whole development as she was. But she wasn't lost, was she? Not completely. The grey of her eyes was calm knowledge, and once more, he didn't know what the French meant, but it was suddenly unsettling in a way that it hadn't been before.
For the first time, he looked at her without the fuzzy, lovesick cloud of absolutes. It must have been something to do with the demonic magic being expelled from his body, but Rory's eyes actually narrowed with distrust while blood dripped off of his lips. "What did you do?" The words were punctuated with rasping bubbles of red, borderline accusatory. To him, this seemed to have happened when she'd pulled on his hand, but even he knew that couldn't be completely right because they'd touched without incident before, several times before.
He thought of the man who had stitched him up before, and Rory glanced back in the direction of the treeline, wincing at the idea of getting that far.
