To date, none of his friends or relatives had yet invited Daniel to their respective weddings. It made him more disgruntled than anything, as a wedding should be an elevated party that most resembled the dramatic operas he loved so devoutly. Every decent couple should know the wedding wasn't about them. It was so everyone else could look on affectionately and cry happy tears.
Daniel was taken by surprise with the slap, a manly gesture he expected from mutual friends and not youths that went about with his grandchildren. It was not exactly unwelcome, but he blinked visibly. He was still bleeding some of that tension from earlier, and didn't stagger. He sketched his brows upward. "See that you don't."
Another glance at the door. "You may stay here, until Holly returns. Or not, as you choose." He actually snarled at the window. "I will watch from upstairs in case they return."
