Re: Lake - Janus/Atticus
Atticus was inherently curious. Wasn't aware that changed in future, but wouldn't be surprised. So far, he was pretty sure that old him was a complete failure at everything. Billy liked the old man, and he was kinder to him than Atticus expected Janus to be. "Smart of the undead," he agreed. Didn't bat an eyelash at the confirmation of hellish torture. Had always known that. It was one of the reasons the haunts wouldn't let go. No one wanted to go downstairs. "How'd you end up here? Going to give me a non-answer?" Again, that lazy, knowing smile.
Did chuckle about Billy. Shook his head a little, shaggy brown catching firelight. "Too young to have survival instincts. Stop being so bitter. Just a kid, completely separate from your antagonist feelings toward my senior citizen discount self."
Another grin. "I get it." Had noted the sixties. "OK. Want me to believe that? I'll believe that," he said with easy nonchalance at Janus' insistence that they weren't friends and had never been lovers. Didn't remind Janus that he'd read back over forum conversations. Knew Janus remembered that without the memory jog. "Then why did you come?"
